Rajarba Survey

A search for Quasars within the Epoch of Reionisation
Department of Physics logo University of Oxford logo

Overview

Rajarba is quarter of the sky (π sr) search for radio-loud quasars within
the Epoch of Reionization (z > 6.4) by selecting flat-spectrum, powerful
radio sources which have counterparts that are bright and unresolved
in the near-infrared, but which are faint in the optical.

The search technique includes cross matching available catalogues and
surveys in different wavelengths and supplying them with own observations
only when necessary.

Selection Criteria

  • Area 30º ≤ Dec ≤ 60º, -30º ≤ Dec ≤ -15º
  • Flux density S325MHz  > 0.018 Jy
  • Spectral index α ≤ 0.5 (Sν ∝ ν)
  • Optical magnitude R < 24, I < 24.5
  • Infrared unresolved typical K ~ 18 mag
